[INTERVIEW] Exclusive Interview with Weekend Heroes

Eli Baltsan and Felix Nagorsky best known as 'Weekend Heroes' put a bit of time aside from the studio to have a chat with us.

1. Hello Guys, tell us a bit about yourselves.
Halo! We are Eli Baltsan and Felix Nagorsky, 30 + years old Israeli citizens... We both emigrated from USSR back then in bloody 90th's… Felix enjoys life on country side and Eli mostly urban guy. We both (obviously) like traveling and enjoying good food ;)

2. How and where did your interest for house music start?
Out here electronic music is very popular and common, so from a young age you get to hear lots of stuff around. That’s why your party music if you are not a geek, so we just never stop since then. Back to 90th's club scene in Tel Aviv was so massive that it’s a real honour grow up there and then!

3. What was the first record you bought?
Keith Bush - Running up That Hill (Bootleg) - straight after hearing it at a party! What exciting times!

4. Which production software do you use and why?
Logic 9 - because it gives us those great results, and we are addicted to apple :)

5. How would you describe your sound?
As we try to combine elements from a few genres, I think best to describe Weekend Heroes sound as Progressive Techno-House. Big beats, massive baselines and positive atmosphere, those are the keys.

6. If you could pick one artist to collaborate with, who would you choose and why?
Bands included? Depeche Mode then! What can be cooler than that? That vocalist and compositor…

7. Who are your favourite artists in the scene right now?
There are a few... Jerome Isma-Ae, Sebastian Krieg & Fedde Le Grand. Those guys kick ass right now.

8. What are your top 5 tracks at the moment?

9. What made you start your own label 'Weekend Music'?
Good music is always floating around us, so we decided to give some of it a good home. We’re releasing music from our friends on this label, some known and some very underground names. Its music that we play in our DJ sets and proves itself on the dance floor.

10. What was your musical highlight of 2011?
Moby Concert, Gui Boratto album and Hernan Cattaneo's sets.

11. What is the weirdest thing that has happened to you on your travels?
Woke up in a room and had absolutely no clue in what part of world we were.

12. What’s your biggest fear?
Became non-relevant?

13. If you weren’t a DJ/producer, what would you be?
Chef... I love cooking and probably would be a chef... yes, definitely.

14. So what can we expect from you in 2012?
So here are some 2012 highlights to looking forward to…

In February we released our official update rework for Fragma's Toca's Miracle... This tribute remix is out on Tiger Records. Then we have releases on Spinnin, Funk Farm, Baroque and few more collaboration releases with Funkagenda, Jerome Isma-Ae and Paul Thomas.

As well our double CD compilation "Best of My Sets: Weekend Heroes" will be released in March and later on we will release an artist full length album on Iboga Records.

Also we will be touring to Latin & Central America, Europe, and Australia in upcoming months so we hope our fans will be able to come and check out our live set. After all it’s all about party goers!
